Google Maps direction now with “Bicycling” option

24 Jan 2012 / 0 Comments / Found in: jQuery/

I’m not 100% sure, but I think Copenhagen, Denmark is one of the most bicycle-loving cities in the world!
We hardly go anywhere without our bikes and everyone has a bike of some sort. You’ll see pregnant women riding their bikes to work, you’ll see businessmen in suits on their old-fashioned bikes, young kids driving around town and mothers with one kid in front and one on the back – while driving through dense traffic at wintertime. Sun, wind or snow – we use the bike.

So for me personally, it was great to finally see the latest option under the Google Maps direction module: Bicycling
Now I can not only get directions using car, public transport or walk, but also using my bike – obviously this is beta, but I’m just glad it’s there!

Just created my path.to/madsfuhr/

06 Sep 2011 / 0 Comments / Found in: Social Media/

Yet another social promotion platform to create and share your personal profile online. The interface works like a charme, you can connect and import your LinkedIn data, connect your other social networks, the design is simple and nice looking and the overall experience creating my profile was quite… smooth.
Now, the big question is – will anyone actually be able to utilize this new tool, which is not really that new a concept after all? First I’ll have to update my profile, upload my best profile picture, perhaps customize the design a bit and then share this link with my entire network, hoping to get some endorsements.

The platform aims at endorsements based on skills, which you provide. However, so far you can only type in 5 skills?!
Next you can integrate as I mentioned with other social networks
Then you start competing against other profiles in your country or city to become the leader at the “Leaderboard”. Suddenly , this takes on a competitive perspective, and not just another social network?

Path.to writes:

“Our leaderboards are a great place to identify talent and increase networking opportunities. Since endorsements are based on skills, it’s easy to back up your new-found clout.”

I just Googled ‘Terry Richardson’

I friend of mine recently had a new tattoo of this guy, which looked a lot like photographer Terry Richardson – turns out it was.

Out of curiosity, I Googled his name in the “Images” tab on Google.com and was somewhat surprised and entertained at the very creative, visual results his name reflected. Looking at the images, I guess Terry is still going through that oral-stage fixation period of his life :)

Google Plus or Facebook or both?

01 Jul 2011 / 0 Comments / Found in: Social Media/

Perhaps a bit early to create fun stuff like this, but hey – it’s fun and I actually do feel a bit the same way about the new Google Plus, having clicked around and tried out different functions/features.

Still looking for that WOW feature though, which converts the entire intelligent crowd from Facebook over to Google+ – let me know, when you find it, ’cause Circles, Hangouts, Huddle and Sparks just don’t do it. I might reveal part of my technological ignorance and lack of depth, but I don’t get it… yet.

  1. Find friends using Yahoo or Hotmail. Are you freakin’ kidding me?!?
  2. Having to place your contacts in multiple relationship-circles based on what YOU feel is the relationship? Why can’t I just follow them, period.
  3. Having to select which circles to share with, every time you post something? Not gonna happen.
  4. Switching to English, but realizing the menu is still in Danish (fair enough, it’s beta)
  5. “Have fun with all your circles using your live webcam. Start a hangout”. Besides sounding a bit kinky having fun using your live cam, I simply don’t think I will ever be using this function to “chat” with friends or family – sorry, “circles”.

Sorry G+, it’s always so easy to ridicule other peoples hard work, but you asked for feedback, right ;)
