Facebook // Photo memories?

Filed under  //   Facebook   social media
Facebook have recently launched Photo Memories, which highlights your friends photo albums - randomly, I guess. This should be a nice little reminder of albums, you might have missed out on. It's placed on the right side above the sponsored ads etc.

But why do they call it "memories", if I'm not even part of the albums? Now I receive reminders of albums my friends have made, which I might not know anything about - like the ones below. Two of my friends went to Paris for the new-year of 2008 - I didn't go. Neither did I go to Egypt in 2009.
Facebook also features the "Recommend Photos", which makes more sense, I think. This album actually features: ME!
Still, I remember most of the albums I uploaded, but thanks anyway Facebook. You keep me clicking...

Facebook Places have been launched

Filed under  //   advertising   Apps   Facebook   Foursquare   gadgets   iPhone   opensource   social media   world

Foursquare started the trend with its location-based services - giving people the ability to "check-in" anywhere in the world, virtually.

Your friends can follow your every move and check-in at the same places, hence the latest feature from Facebook US. Facebook Places allows you to share your current location, when posting from e.g. your mobile Facebook app or on touch.facebook.com

Amazing photo-manipulation from World War II

Filed under  //   creative   design   photography   world

You have to check out these amazing manipulated photograhs by Sergey Larenkov.

He has merged images from two very different decades together into one single image. The location is identical, except there's about 65 years between.

Photographs taken during World War II, merged into modern day locations.

Web 3.0 - we welcome you

Filed under  //   data   open source   technology   web 2.0   web 3.0   world

web 3.0 vs web 2.0

Web 1.0 – That Geocities & Hotmail era was all about read-only content and static HTML websites. People preferred navigating the web through link directories of Yahoo! and dmoz.

Web 2.0 – This is about user-generated content and the read-write web. People are consuming as well as contributing information through blogs or sites like Flickr, YouTube, Digg, etc. The line dividing a consumer and content publisher is increasingly getting blurred in the Web 2.0 era.

Web 3.0 – This will be about semantic web (or the meaning of data), personalization (e.g. iGoogle), intelligent search and behavioral advertising among other things.
